Bunica
- the old settlement, 5 km west of Senj, is situated
between the Sea and the Adriatic tourist motorway. Its economic
orientation is tourism and with good reason. There are two smaller
camps, but you can choose the private accommodation, as well.
The beach with the crystal clean sea satisfies the needs of any
visitor.
Kalić (Zakosa) - 7 km south of Senj, is also
a tourist place. There you can find accommodation in a tourist
resort or in private houses. It has got a very nice beach.
Sveti Juraj - 9 km south of Senj, is a typical
littoral resort. It is situated in a little bay with a well protected
port. Besides a very small factory of wood industry its main economic
orientation is tourism. In its vicinity there are several small
– camps such as Spasovac, Rača, Ujča and each of them has its
own miniature, but beautiful beach. The beach in Rača offers you
possibility to practice and exercise some sports like tennis,
diving, marine and mini football or handball, not only by day
but by night as well.
Lukovo-Klada-Starigrad - all little, quiet fisherman's
places ideal for those who enjoy peace and relaxation. There are
numerous, little, hidden bays where you can have a beach all for
yourself.
Jablanac - 40 km south of Senj, used to be a
quiet tourist place under the mountain Velebit, but since it has
become an important port for the ferry boats, the situation has
changed. Now it is a very busy place with lots of tourists who,
sitting in their cars, patiently wait to be aboard and taken to
the island of Rab. The crossing lasts only ten minutes. The newly
built hotel Ablana, situated on the rock above the port, dominates
the scenery.
Not far from here, in the southern direction, at a ten-minute'
walk, there is a very deep and narrow bay called ZAVRATNICA. It
resembles the Scandinavian fiord and therefore is a constant target
of many visitors.
Stinica is a large tourist resort 2 km from the
Adriatic tourist motorway. It has all characteristics of a typical
Mediterranean summer resorts.
Prizna is a very important port for the ferry
boats because it doesn't only take you to the PAG island, but
it is a kind of a gate between the Southern and the Northern Croatia.
It leads you towards the famous Dalmatian towns (Zadar, Šibenik,
Split, Makarska) and further to the
South (Ploče, Dubrovnik). |
Krasno
is the largest settlement on the Velebit mountain. It is situated
800m above the sea- level, 22km north of Sveti Juraj. Krasno is
one of the rare mountainous settlements which managed to keep its
inhabitants. THE NATIONAL PARK NORTH VELEBIT has its headquarters
here. There is also a very famous SANCTUARY OF THE VIRGIN MARY.
You can stay either at a little hotel or privately. Unfortunately,
the number of the houses to be rent is not satisfactory as the sport
and religious tourism are in progress.
Krivi Put - with its scattered hamlets is situated
on the plateau 15 km north of Senj. The inhabitants are involved
mostly in game breeding. Today there are but a few houses to be
rent, but the country tourism here has bright future.
Vratnik is a mountainous village 15 km far from
Senj, an unenviable place on your way to Zagreb when you cross the
VRATNIK SADDLE. Near the top there is a motel which offers you not
only the accommodation but a wonderful view over the region (Senj,
Kvarner, the islands...) as well. |
